QUEBEC CITY -- Marie-Joëlle Vandal made four saves to earn a shutout and two late goals proved to be the difference as No.1-ranked Laval blanked the visiting McGill Martlets 2-0 win in women's soccer at Stade PEPS, Friday.

Cynthia Turcotte scored what proved to be the 74th minute and Arielle Roy-Petitclerc added an insurance marker in the 79th.

The game was a preview of next week's McGill-Laval matchup in an RSEQ conference semifinal The division-leading Rouge et Or clinhed first-place atop the RSEQ standings with an 11-0-2 record and one game remaining. Fourth-place McGill dropped to 7-4-2.

The Martlets will close out the regular season on Sunday night at home to the third-place Montreal Carabins (8-2-3). It will be seniors night at Percival Molson Stadium as the team's two graduating veterans -- Rebecca Green and Margaux Sleckman will be honoured in a pre-game ceremony. Kick-off is slated for 7 pm, following the men's confrontation.
