MONTREAL -- McGill University will host the 21st annual Redbird Classic basketball tournament, Oct. 16-18, at Love Competition Hall, inside the Sir Arthur Currie gymnasium at 475 Pine Avenue West.  This year, the event is a women's only tourney, although the Redmen will host York and Waterloo in a pair of non-conference games, Oct. 17-18, respectively.

The Martlets, who are 1-0 in preseason play against CIS teams, will open against the Victoria Vikes (1-0) on Friday at 6 p.m. The next day, McGill plays the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (1-1) at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Martlets will confront the Laurier Golden Hawks at 12 noon.

Tickets will be available at the door. Daily passes are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. A three-day weekend pass is $10 for students and seniors, and  $20 for adults. Like all McGill sporting events, children aged 12-and-under are admitted free.

Both the daily and tournament packages will include admission to the two men's games.

The Redmen are 2-1 against CIS teams and will play York (1-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m., followed by Waterloo (0-1) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
