Gwen Duguet of France connected on a penalty shot with six minutes remaining as the Sherbrooke Vert & Or squeaked past visiting McGill in men's university soccer, Sunday.
Duguet's fired his winning tally past the outstretched arms of fellow countryman
Max Leblond, who took the loss for the Redmen.
"Sherbrooke defended well and showed a lot of determination but we controlled the game," said Redmen head coach
Marc Mounicot. "We played a well-organized game defensively and limited Sherbrooke to only one clear scoring chance but we beat ourselves by not being able to convert some great scoring chances. We did not execute well in some crucial one-on-one situations and this game could've changed on a single play."
McGill, which suffered a 2-1 setback to the Montreal Carabins in their home-opener on Thursday, now sits with an 0-2 record to start regular-season action.
The Redmen will be looking to get their first official victory when they host UQTR (1-0-1), the defending RSEQ conference champions, on Friday, Sept. 13 at 8:30 p.m., before hosting Concordia on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 5 p.m.

Marc Palaci-Olgun left the contest in the 25th minute after an apparent kick to the face on a play that failed to draw a card from the officials. The mechanical engineering junior from Montreal was dispatched to hospital where he received eight stitches on his lips. He is expected to be out of action for at least one week...
