MONTREAL -- Spencer Bromley, a freshman from Surrey, B.C., scored five goals and added two assists as McGill routed Concordia 23-1 in men's university lacrosse at Molson Stadium, Tuesday.

The result extended McGill's win streak to 17 consecutive games against Canadian university opponents, dating back to last year when the won their first-ever national championship.

Redmen head coach Tim Murdoch rested 16 veterans, fielding a lineup featuring reserves at each starting position.

McGill led 8-0 after the opening quarter and 14-0 at halftime before Xavier Poirier scored for Concordia to snap the shutout bid by two Redmen goalies. The score was 19-1 after three quarters.

Bromley was one of three players to register a hat-trick, along with Leland de Langley, a junior attackman from Orangeville, Ont., and Rhys Burnell, sophomore midfielder from Abbotsford, B.C., who scored four goals apiece.

De Langley added six helpers to finish the soiree with 10 points.

Adding two goals apiece was sophomore Rufus Frost of Park City, Utah, sophomore Christian Barker of Toronto and freshman Bohe Hosking of Vienna, Va.

Rounding out the scoring for the Redmen was Anders Bjella of Milwaukee, Daniel Maffezzoli of New York City, Matthew Tse of Toronto and Bradley Hofmann of Richmond, B.C.

Freshman goaltender William Waesche of Greenwich, Conn., started between the pipes for McGill and collected the win. He left the game at halftime with a shoutout intact. Gordon Hart, a rookie from Alexandria, Va., played the second half and gave up the lone Stingers goal during his 40 minutes of play.

Louis Grimes went the distance in net for Concordia and took the loss.

Despite the lopsided score, the game featured only five penalties, including four to the Stingers.

McGill sits atop the CUFLA East Division with a 7-0 record, They have three regular season contests remaining and their magic number to clinch first place is two wins. Any combination of McGill victories or Queen's losses equalling two will suffice.

The Redmen will face a significantly stiffer test in their next game, a non-conference affair against the NCAA's Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, N.Y., Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.

Concordia, which dropped to 0-3, will host Trent (0-5) in a battle of winless teams, on Sept. 29.
