It was the ninth "double-double" in 16 games for the 6-foot-1 freshman centre who shot 6-for-14 and went 3-for-7 from the foul-line in just 23 minutes of court-time.

The teams were tied at 13-13 after the opening quarter but McGill pulled ahead 33-27 at the half and led 45-40 after three.

Dianna Ros, Marie-Pier Bastrash and Gabriela Hebert added 11, 10 and nine points, respectively for McGill, which was missing power forward Anneth Him-Lazarenko and point-guard Francoise Charest.

"Considering everything that was going on, it gave us an opportunity to rotate a lot of different players in and see what they could do," explained McGill head coach Ryan Thorne, who opted to keep the two key starters out of the lineup to heal some minor injuries. "Both were a little dinged up and since we had clinched first-place on Thursday, we decided to sit them more as a precautionary move than anything. We wanted to make sure that they would get some physiotherapy and be fresh for the playoffs."

Emie Simard and Queteline Celestin led the Citadins with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

McGill shot 44.4 per cent from the floor, 22.2 from the three-point arc and 66.7 from the line, compared to UQAM, which connected on 30.9, 23.5 and 66.7.

"We turned the ball over a little too much (28 times) but I think that's something that we can tighten up," added Thorne. "Other than that, I was fairly happy with our overall performance, both on offence and in the defensive end."

The Martlets, who finished atop the RSEQ standings for the third straight year, with a 13-3 record, will host fourth-place Laval (8-8) in a sudden-death semifinal on Wednesday (Feb. 27) at 6 p.m. The game will be followed by a men's semifinal between McGill and UQAM at 8 p.m.
