MONTREAL --Alexandra Morin-Boucher scored twice
as McGill cruised to a 4-0 whitewash of the Concordia Stingers in
the Quebec university indoor soccer league season finale, in a game
played at the new StingerDome sports complexe.
The Martlets finished second in the league standings with a
5-1-1 record, scoring 20 goals and allowing only five.
Morin-Boucher won the conference scoring title with 12 points,
including 11 goals in six games. Other goals were scored by
Zohra Bendouah and Dylan
Saunders.
"Our team goal this winter was to finish in the top four (of the
eight-team league) and to get in the championship game," said
McGill head coach Marc Mounicot. "We reached our
first objective and are now focussed on the second one.
"Against the Stingers, we had some strong offensive displays and
I was pleased with the overall performance of the team. We
dominated the entire game, outshot them 22-3 and gave up very few
opportunities to Concordia."
The Martlets will have one week off before playing UQTR in the
QSSF quarter-final round on March 14 at a location and time yet to
be determined, pending the outcomes of other games this
weekend.
