SHERBROOKE - Alexandra Morin-Boucher of St.
Gabriel de Brandon, Que., scored her ninth of the season in the
26th minute of play as the McGill Martlets blanked Sherbrooke 1-0
in the Quebec women's indoor soccer league at Centre
Rolland-Dussault, Sunday.
"We had a strong performance tonight especially in the first 45
minutes," said head coach Marc Mounicot. "We did
not allow any shots on net and controlled the play easily and
scored a beautiful goal. The second half with many subs was a
little more difficult, Sherbrooke was pressing upfront but our
defence was strong and we stayed well organized until the end."
McGill now shares the top spot in the eight-team Quebec
conference with the Montreal Carabins. Both teams have identical
4-0-1 records and will meet next weekend in Saint Eustache on Feb.
21 at 5:30 p.m.
The Martlets will be put to the test as they will be missing
five starters because of reading week. Regulars who will not be
available include goalkeeper Shimone Slomowitz and defender Carolyn Bell, plus midfielders Kathleen Wakeling, Maggie Keating and Julia Bahen.
