KINGSTON, Ont. -- McGill suffered a tough 3-1 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues in women's field hockey, Saturday.

Due to a scheduling snafu, the Martlets arrived at the field just 15 minutes before game time.

McGill started on a high note, however, imposing their tempo and taking the initiative which resulting in a goal in the 26th minute on a short corner by captainHolly Millar.

Toronto battled back but could not go penetrate McGill's solid defence for the remainder of the opening half.

Toronto tie the game 1-1 atthe 40-minute mark, after pressuring the Martlet defenders, switching the ball right to left with deep balls to the Varsity Blues forwards.

McGill goalkeeper Katherine (Olivia) Isabelle made a brilliant save on a penalty stoke but shortly after that, Toronto capitalized to go ahead 2-1.

With three minutes remaining, a long through-pass into the McGill zone territory forced the defenders to give Toronto a penalty stroke which put the game out of reach.
