MONTREAL – Football players Dimitrios Sinodinos of Laval, Que., and Guillaume Beland from the Town of Mt. Royal, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending on Aug. 29, 2021.
 
Sinodinos , a 5-foot-10, 191-pound quarterback, passed for a career-high 309 yards in McGill's 140th season opener, a 17-11 setback at Laval on Sunday. He completed 22 of 32 passing attempts and had one interception.  He rushed twice for 10 yards, including a two-yard touchdown run. Sinodinos  found six different receivers and generated 358 yards of net offence. The 24-year-old engineering senior is working on a master's degree after graduating last spring.

Beland, a 5-foot-9, 173-pound defensive back, led the McGill defence with eight total tackles, two knockdowns and a fumble recovery on a blocked field-goal attempt in the loss at Laval. The fifth-year management student is a 24-year-old senior majoring in finance.
