MONTREAL –
Brandon Frattaroli of Pierrefonds, Que., and
Vanessa Lu Langley of Ottawa, are the McGill University athletes of the week, presented by
Restaurant Poulet Rouge, for the period ending Feb. 9, 2025.
Frattaroli, a 24-year-old industrial relations senior on the men's hockey team, scored three goals and added one assist as McGill swept a pair of games last weekend, defeating Guelph 6-5 and Lakehead 4-2. The six-foot, 199-pound centre is fourth in the OUA scoring race with a career-best 31 points in 26 games. His 19 goals leads the league and ranks second in the nation. It's the highest goal total by a McGill player since Mathieu Pompei potted 19 in 2015-16. Frattaroli is a product of the QMJHL, where he skated for Gatineau, the Quebec Remparts and Baie Comeau.
Lu Langley, a 24-year-old chemical engineering senior, posted gold and bronze medal performances and set a fieldhouse record at the Middlebury Field & Track Meet in Middlebury, Vt., on Saturday. The 5-foot-3 sprinter won the women's 60-metre hurdles in a fieldhouse record time of 8.68 seconds, which was just 0.13 seconds shy of the McGill record. She also finished third in the 60m dash, crossing the line in 8.19 seconds. Lu Langley enrolled at McGill in 2020 out of Lycée Claudel, a French-language private school in Ottawa.
McGill athlete of the week award recipients receive a gift certificate from Poulet Rouge, serving healthy and nutritious meals since 2017. All students can get a 15% discount at the Poulet Rouge McGill location upon presentation of their student ID card.
