MONTREAL – Eric Uba of Kitchener, Ont., and Donna Ntambue of Montreal, are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 25, 2024.
 
Uba, a six-foot, 200-pound right-winger with the Redbirds hockey team, scored four points, including a pair of goals, in two playoff games last week. The 23-year-old management junior helped McGill sweep Concordia 6-4 and 3-1 to win an OUA East semifinal series 2-0 and qualify for a berth at the U SPORTS national championship in Toronto next month. He scored the insurance goal in each game and added an assist in both. Uba is currently second on the team in scoring with a 19-21-40 record in 35 games overall. He was recruited to McGill in 2001 out of the Ontario Hockey League, where he played for the Guelph Storm and Flint Firebirds.
 
Ntambue, a 5-foot-9 sprinter on the Martlets track and field team, won two silver medals and a bronze at the RSEQ championships in Quebec City over the weekend. She finished second in the 60-metre race, crossing the finish line in 7.33 seconds, just .01 off her school record set last month. She also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x200 relay that placed second (1:42.35) and the 4x400 quartet that finished third (4:55.55). Ntambue, who turns 23 years old on Monday (Feb. 26), is an Hispanic studies sophomore who transferred to McGill last year after consuming three years of collegiate eligibility in the NCAA.
