MONTREAL – Carl Gelinas of Shawinigan, Que., and Andrea Weckman of Kitchener, Ont., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Jan. 26, 2013.
 
Gelinas, a 21-year-old freshman majoring in applied finance with the hockey Redmen, scored four points in road victories at Laurentian and Nipissing last week, as McGill extended their win streak to six. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound forward was a one-man wrecking crew in McGill's 6-5 win against Laurentian in Sudbury on Friday, scoring twice – including the game-winner – and adding a pair of assists. He joined the Redmen in 2013 after playing for Baie Comeau and Halifax of the QMJHL.

Weckman, a 5-foot-8 goaltender with the hockey Martlets, posted one shutout and two weekend victories last week, defeating Ottawa 2-0 and Concordia 3-1. She saved 33 of 34 shots for a stellar .971 save percentage and a stingy 0.50 goals-against average. The fifth-year neuroscience major improved her lifetime regular season record to 24-0 in a McGill uniform. Weckman, 22, enrolled at McGill in 2009 after graduating from Saint Mary's high school in Kitchener.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
