André Gendron, a native of Sherbrooke, Que., was appointed in 2016 as an assistant coach with the McGill University Martlets volleyball program. He also coordinates the team's recruiting outside Quebec and will be entering his seventh year at McGill in 2023-24.
In May, 2023, he was named to serve on the Volleyball Canada coaching staff with the national youth girls team for the 2023 Canada Cup tournament in Thorold, Ont. The tourney is designed for female athletes born in 2007 or later.
Gendron, who received his Level 4 coaching certification from Volleyball Canada in 2016, has served on Volleyball Quebec coaching staffs at various tournaments from 2013 to 2022. Among those was the Quebec under-20 program at the 2017 and 2018 High Performance Championship in the U.S. He also been head coach of the Quebec Relève (next generation) volleyball program in 2021 and 2022.
Since 2016, Gendron has been head coach at Collège André-Laurendeau, a Div. 1 program in the Quebec-based CEGEP circuit, that won the league championship in 2017-18.
Previously, he spent five years as an assistant with men's varsity team at Université de Sherbrooke (2011 to 2016) and eight years as head coach of the women's program at Collège de Sherbrooke (2008-2016).
