Kelsey Wilson was appointed as a full-time assistant coach of the McGill women’s soccer program in 2018, under the guidance of head coach Jose-Luis Valdes.
 
Her appointment is part of a new “Women in Sport” funding initiative, recently implemented at McGill Athletics and Recreation.
 
A 27-year-old native of Pincourt, Que.,  Wilson was a stalwart defender for four years at McGill before graduating in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduating, she served as coordinator of technical programs at Federation Soccer du Quebec, while also being part of the coaching staff at Quebec REX (formerly known as the National Training Centre).

She returned to serve two seasons as a part-time assistant coach with the Martlets in 2016 and 2017, and also spent two seasons as head coach of the Longueuil soccer club.
 
Aside from coaching and video analysis, her primary role will be to oversee recruiting for the program.
 
During her playing days, Wilson made her debut in the Canadian youth program at age 14 in 2006 and also played with the national U-15 team and the Lac St. Louis Lakers club program.

After graduating from John Abbott College, she was recruited to McGill where she was a two-time RSEQ conference all-star defender, earning second-team status in 2011 and first-team honours in 2013. She also merited CIS All-Canadian first-team honours as a senior and scored six goals in 46 career regular season games with McGill.
