Martin Raymond, a Pierrefonds, Que., native who resides in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, rejoined the McGill coaching staff as a technical advisor in August, 2026.
Raymond has coached in the NHL, AHL and QMJHL, as well as at the university level. He spent three years as an assistant coach with McGill before taking over the head coaching duties for the next 14 seasons. His professional coaching career included stints as an assistant with the NHL's Ottawa Senators (2016-2019) and Tampa Bay Lightning (2010-2013), as well as with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch (2013) and Hamilton Bulldogs (2009-10). He also served for two-plus seasons as head coach of the QMJHL's Drummondville Voltigeurs (2013-2015). Since 2022, he has coached with École secondaire de Mortagne, a South Shore hockey program.
A 2011 inductee to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame, Raymond had a brilliant playing career at McGill, scoring 109 goals and 253 points in 154 games overall from 1987 to 1992. He earned all-conference honours three times and All-Canadian status in his final season, when he served as team captain. Raymond graduated in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in education, followed by a master's degree in physical education in 1996. He received the Forbes Trophy as McGill's male athlete of the year in 1991-92 and the Bobby Bell Trophy as team MVP in his final season.
