Biography

UNIVERSITY CAREER (2013-2016): Name is pronounced kah-DAR... Started in 24 of his 28 regular season games with the McGill University Redmen, including 11 starts at left tackle, seven at left guard, five at right guard and one at right tackle...  Was kept out of a starting role four times due to injury...

COACH'S QUOTE: "Spooner's exactly what you want an offensive lineman to be," says McGill head coach Ronald Hilaire. "He's aggressive, has a huge mean streak, is agile, smart and a leader. He's the full package and arguably the best offensive lineman in the Quebec conference. He's got all the measurables to play in the NFL, especially after Laurent Duvernay-Tardif's success in that league. Spooner's the same type of player and might even be more athletic."

SENIOR YEAR (2016): Started in six of his eight games played, including four at left tackle and two at left guard... Earned all-conference status in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec...  Invited to 2017 CFL Combines Camp in Regina... Ranked ninth (September), 13th (December) and 13th (April) in the three CFL Scouting Bureau Rankings and was the second-highest ranked offensive linemen among Canadian university prospects...  Slipped four spots from the previous ranking after being hampered by a mid-season injury... CFL PROSPECT PROFILE... Was one of two Canadians and the only one from a U SPORTS football program invited to the 2017 College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium (Jan. 7-11), an all-star event that provides exposure and education for top college seniors, selected by a panel of football experts. LINK TO CGSS INVITEES... Equally adept in the classroom, the social work senior has achieved a lofty grade-point average of 3.80 out of 4.0, earning Academic All-Canadian status and making the Principal's Student-athlete Honour Roll... Won the team's Dr. Strachan Hartley Memorial Trophy as the player who best combines football with academics and leadership... Recipient of a Montreal Alouettes football bursary for athletic excellence.

JUNIOR YEAR (2015): Started in seven games, all of them at left tackle... Selected to play in CIS East-West Bowl game for Spring of 2016.

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2014): Started in six games, including four at right guard, one at right tackle and one at left guard...

FRESHMAN YEAR (2013): Started in five of his seven games, including four at left guard and one at right guard... Drew the attention of some CFL scouts as a freshman when he started alongside NFL-bound McGill senior Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who was eventually selected in both the CFL (Toronto Argonauts) and NFL (Kansas City)
