Ronald Hilaire joined the McGill University football program in February, 2014, in the capacity of defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. He held a similar post for three years with the Montréal Carabins, where he was also the recruiting coordinator. He took over as an interim co-head coach at McGill in October, 2014 (along with offensive coordinator Patrick Boies) after the departure of former head coach Clint Uttley who resigned on Sept. 30, 2014.
Hilaire, a 35-year-old native of Laval, Que., became the team's 21st bench boss and was officially appointed head coach on Feb. 17 2015.
Prior to working with the Carabins, Hilaire was a defensive line coach at Collège du Vieux Montreal in 2010 and 2011. He had coached with Team Quebec since 2012 and also served as a co-defensive coordinator and D-line coach for the Canadian squad, which won a U-18 world championship at Arlington, Texas in 2013 and 2014.
A fourth-round pick (27th overall) by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2008 Canadian Football League draft, Hilaire played four seasons in the NCAA at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo) as a defensive lineman, recording 120 total tackles, eight quarterback sacks and a four forced fumbles. He helped the Bulls win the Mid-American Conference championship in 2008 and was co-captain of that team. He graduated in 2008 with a degree in business administration specializing in international business.
Prior to attending Buffalo, he played three seasons at Collège du Vieux Montréal where he won three Bol d'Or league championships. A captain his last year there, he earned all-conference honours in 2002 and was named as the league's defensive player of the year in 2003, when he registered 50 tackles, 11 sacks, one interception and a pair of fumble recoveries.
He represented Canada on the international stage three times -- in 2001, 2002 and 2003 -- serving as captain twice and meriting all-tournament honours in both of his last two years. Hilaire also played football in high school (Mont St. Louis Kodiaks, 1998), at the bantam level with the Vimont-Auteuil Patriotes (1999) and in midget with the Laval-North Vikings (2000).

Ronald Hilaire s'est joint au programme de l'équipe de football de l'Université McGill en février 2014 et a été nommé entraîneur-chef interim en Octobre 2014. Natif de Laval, Qué., et âgé de 34 ans, il devient officiellement le 21e pilote dans l'histoire de l'équipe le 17 fevrier 2015. Hilaire agissait comme co-entraîneur en chef par intérim en compagnie du coordinateur offensif Patrick Boies depuis le départ de l'ancien entraîneur-chef Clint Uttley, qui a démissionné le 30 septembre 2014.
Hilaire s'est joint au programme en tant que coordinateur défensif et entraîneur de la ligne défensive. Il avait auparavant occupé une position similaire pendant trois ans avec les Carabins de l'Université de Montréal, avec qui il était aussi coordinateur de recrutement.
Avant de travailler avec les Carabins, Hilaire était entraîneur de la ligne défensive au Cégep du Vieux Montréal en 2010 et 2011. Il est entraîneur avec Équipe Québec depuis 2012 et a également agit comme co-coordinateur défensif et entraîneur de la ligne défensive pour l'équipe canadienne qui a remporté les deux dernières éditions du championnat du monde des moins de 18 ans à Arlington, en Texas.
En 2008, Hilaire avait été choisi en quatrième ronde (27e au total) par les Stampeders de Calgary lors du repêchage de la Ligue canadienne de football. Il a évolué pendant quatre saisons comme joueur de ligne défensive à l'Université de Buffalo dans la NCAA, amassant au passage 120 plaqués et huit sacs du quart, en plus de provoquer quatre échappés. Il a aidé les Bulls à gagner le championnat de la conférence « Mid-American » en 2008 alors qu'il était co-capitaine de l'équipe. Il a gradué en 2008 avec un diplôme en administration des affaires, avec une spécialisation en affaires internationales.
Avant son passage à Buffalo, il avait joué pendant trois saisons au Cégep du Vieux Montréal, remportant trois bagues de championnat du Bol d'Or. Capitaine durant sa dernière année avec l'équipe, il a été retenu sur l'équipe d'étoiles en 2002 et a été nommé joueur défensif de l'année de la ligue collégiale en 2003 après avoir récolté 50 plaqués, 11 sacs du quart et une interception, en plus de récupérer deux ballons échappés.
Il a représenté le Canada sur la scène internationale en 2001, 2002 et 2003, dont deux fois comme capitaine, et a été choisi parmi les étoiles du tournoi à chacune de ses deux dernières participations. Son parcours de joueur, en tant que plaqueur défensif, commence au sein des Kodiaks de l'école secondaire Mont-Saint-Louis, en 1998. Il y joue durant un an avant de se joindre aux Patriotes de Vimont-Auteuil Bantam en 1999, puis rejoint l'équipe des Vikings de Laval-Nord Midget en 2000.
