Alain Mainguy was appointed the offensive line coach at McGill in February 2014, where he also serves as the team's academic coordinator.
He was named as part of the Team Canada coaching staff for the under-18 national team at the 2016 International Bowl, a series of games between the U.S. and various Canadian provincial and national teams in Arlington, Texas, Jan. 31 to Feb. 5.
Before joining the Redmen staff, Mainguy spent two years as the offensive line coach at the University of Montreal. Prior to coaching in the CIS, he won six Quebec Bol d'Or championships at different levels, including a pair with Collège François-Xavier Garneau in 2008 and 2011 as the o-line coach. He served as the offensive line coach for Team Canada in 2012, which won a world championship in Austin, Texas. He has also coached with Quebec provincial team on numerous occasions.
During his playing days, Mainguy was an offensive lineman for the Laval Rouge et Or in 1995 and 1996. He holds three degrees from Laval, including a bachelor of science in Biology, a bachelor of high school education (science and technology) and a certificate in college education.
Alain and his wife, Christelle, have been married since 2007 and they have a daughter.
