Biography

Andrew Seinet-Spaulding was a sixth-round selection (52nd overall) by Calgary in the 2020 CFL Draft. The six-foot, 292-pound defensive tackle from Pierrefonds, Que., earned Team MVP honours and became the third McGill football player in school history to win the prestigious J.P. Metras Trophy as most outstanding down lineman in the country in 2019. A 23-year-old social work senior, he was a unanimous selection on the RSEQ all-star team and merited All-Canadian first-team honours. He also received male athlete-of-the-year honours at the 2020 Quebec Foundation for University Athletics (FAEQ).

In 2019, his star-studded senior year, he won both, the Quebec conference's most outstanding defensive player and lineman-of-the-year awards.  He was invited to the CFL's  national combines camp in March but that was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A co-captain and recipient of a Montreal Alouettes athletic excellence bursary, Seinet-Spaulding dressed for 29 of McGill’s 32 regular season games over his four seasons. He registered 80 career tackles, including 61 solos, 25.5 tackles for loss and 13 quarterback sacks, to go along with three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He had a career-season in 2019, leading the RSEQ conference in both quarterback sacks (7 for 43 yards) and tackles for loss (13.5 for 62 yards). Despite being double-teamed by every opponent, he tallied 27.5 total tackles, 22 of them solo, in eight regular-season games.

At the 2019-20 McGill Foootball Gala, Seinet-Spaulding won four team awards, including the Students' Society Trophy as Team MVP (for the second time), the Friends of McGill Trophy (most outstanding defensive player), the Touchdown Club Trophy (most outstanding lineman) and the Charlie Baillie Trophy (best team player). During his freshman year in 2016-17, he was a triple trophy, including the team's rookie-of-the-year honours.
