Biography

FIFTH YEAR (2017-18): Named OUA East Second Team All-Star for the second straight season... Was the OUA's Randy Gregg Award nominee for community engagement... Played for the U SPORTS All-Star Team in a two-game series against Canada's National Junior Team in December, 2017... OVERALL STATS (prior to University Cup): 5-19-24, 12 PIM in 43 GP.

SENIOR YEAR (2016-17): Named OUA East Second Team All-Star... A master's student and first-year transfer after playing three seasons with the St. Francis Xavier, where he was a two-time second-team all-star with the X-Men and graduated in 2016 with a degree in human kinetics... Alternate captain with McGill... One of three McGill players who won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2017 FISU Winter Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan (Jan. 30 - Feb. 8)... One of two McGill players selected to play for U Sports all-stars against Canadian national junior prospects in Dec. 2016... OVERALL STATS: 7-10-17, 6 PIM in 26 GP.

PRIOR TO McGILL:  After playing in the OHL for own Sound, he had an NHL tryout with Arizona, then went on to played three seasons in the AUS conference with the StFX X-Men where he was a two-time second team all-star defenceman... He graduated in 2016 with a degree in human kinetics. Scored three goals, had 12 assists and finished with a plus-minus rating of +14 in 2015-16... A two-time winner of the AUS conference's Godfrey Award for student-athlete community service and went on to win the Dr. Randy Gregg Award at the CIS level in 2016... Chosen as the StFX Athletics nominee for the 2016 James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award...

In the 2016 postseason, Chiarlitti posted seven points (three goals and four assists) in six games played. The StFX squad captured their first AUS men's hockey title since 2004 and Chiarlitti was named most valuable player of the championship. In the CIS University Cup national championship, he posted another three points en route to StFX's silver medal finish.

Academically, he was a three-time academic all-Canadian at St.FX. He completed the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and hopes to attend medical school in the future.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Volunteered his time with an array of organizations and causes. He was awarded the Leader of Distinction award by the StFX Leadership Academy, which he has been involved with for the past three years. He is a volunteer coach for the Antigonish Minor Hockey Mentorship Program, a volunteer tutor with the Hockey Program of X-Cellence and president of the Coady Society.

Volunteers with Fit 4 Life and Fit 4 Tots, a StFX human kinetics community service program which promotes healthy lifestyles to children. He is a participant in StFX's Best Buddies program, which helps people with intellectual disabilities gain valuable life experiences, leadership skills and establish new friendships.

Has also done extensive volunteer work in medical research including thyroid oncology research at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, work with Caisis, the online cancer data management system, as well as data collection for CAPL (Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy).
