OTTAWA — Emma-Jane Scotten scored a game-high 20 points and Emilia Diaz-Ruiz added 15, but McGill dropped a 65–50 decision to Carleton in women's exhibition basketball Saturday afternoon at the Ravens' Nest.

The loss snapped the Martlets (8-6 overall) back into action after a month-long break for exams and holidays, while the Ravens improved to 13–5 overall on the season.

McGill stayed close early, trailing 21–13 after the opening quarter, but struggled offensively in the second as Carleton surged to a 41–15 halftime lead. The Martlets responded with their best stretch after the break, outscoring the hosts 23–11 in the third quarter to close the gap to 52–38. Carleton steadied in the fourth, edging McGill 13–12 to secure the 15-point victory.

The Ravens shot 39.0 per cent from the floor and 6-for-17 from three-point range, while McGill was held to 24.6 per cent shooting overall and 6-for-30 from beyond the arc. McGill was efficient at the free-throw line, going 14-for-16, compared with Carleton's 13-for-17.

Scotten hit four three-pointers and was perfect from the line, while Diaz-Ruiz chipped in 11 rebounds to narrowly miss a double-double. Emie Boucard and Katie Rathwell added four points apiece for McGill, which was outrebounded 41–31 and managed just four bench points on the afternoon.

Carleton was paced by Tyanne Matosas-Adder's 19 points, while Kyana-Jade Poulin added 16 and Abany Deng contributed 10 off the bench. The Ravens also received 38 points from their reserves and converted McGill turnovers into 19 points.

With the result, Carleton now holds a slim 19–18 edge in the all-time had-to-head series. Both teams now turn their attention back to conference play this week, with McGill (4-2) set to host Bishop's (4-2) on Jan. 8 and Carleton (7-3) welcoming undefeated Queen's (11-0) on Jan. 9. Both games tip off at 6 p.m.

Cette défaite a marqué le retour des Martlets (8-6 au total) après une pause d'un mois pour les examens et les vacances, tandis que les Ravens ont amélioré leur bilan à 13-5 pour la saison.

McGill est resté au contact en début de match, menant 21-13 après le premier quart-temps, mais a connu des difficultés en attaque au deuxième quart-temps, Carleton prenant l'avantage 41-15 à la mi-temps. Les Martlets ont réagi en réalisant leur meilleure performance après la pause, dépassant les hôtes 23-11 au troisième quart-temps pour réduire l'écart à 52-38. Carleton s'est stabilisé au quatrième quart-temps, devançant McGill 13-12 pour s'assurer une victoire de 15 points.
