OTTAWA – McGill finished fourth overall in the men's team standings at the Carleton Capital Challenge, the second stop on the RSEQ cross-country circuit, held Saturday at Mooney's Bay Park.
Leading the Redbirds was Sean Adams, who crossed the line in 10th overall in 19 minutes, 10 seconds over the six-kilometre course.
He was followed closely by Emile Mignault (15th, 19:24), Sacha Dernoncourt (19th, 19:29), Roman Bordo (20th, 19:29) and Ben Gates (27th, 19:45) to round out McGill's five scoring runners.
At the front of the 151-runner field, Philippe Morneau-Cartier of the Laval Rouge et Or claimed gold in 18:31, edging Sherbrooke's Nolan Turgeon (18:39) and teammate Xavier Lemaitre (18:48), who took silver and bronze, respectively.
In the team standings, Laval captured the title with 34 points, followed by Sherbrooke (61), Queen's (88), McGill (91), UQTR (148), Ottawa (184), Montreal (189), UQAC (251), UQAM (259), ÉTS (316) and RMC (378).
The RSEQ season continues Oct. 11 with the Rouge et Or Invitational, an eight-kilometre race on the historic Plains of Abraham in Quebec City.

Cross-country's Adams leads McGill Redbirds to fourth at Carleton Capital Challenge
Redbirds finish three points shy of Queen's
OTTAWA – Les Redbirds de McGill ont terminé quatrièmes au classement général par équipe masculine lors du Carleton Capital Challenge, deuxième étape du circuit de cross-country RSEQ, qui s'est déroulé samedi au parc Mooney's Bay.
Sean Adams a mené les Redbirds, franchissant la ligne d'arrivée en 10e position avec un temps de 19 minutes et 10 secondes sur le parcours de six kilomètres.
Il était suivi de près par Emile Mignault (15e, 19:24), Sacha Dernoncourt (19e, 19:29), Roman Bordo (20e, 19:29) et Ben Gates (27e, 19:45), qui complétaient le quintette des coureurs de McGill ayant marqué des points.
En tête du peloton de 151 coureurs, Philippe Morneau-Cartier, du Laval Rouge et Or, a remporté la médaille d'or en 18 min 31 s, devançant Nolan Turgeon (18 min 39 s), de Sherbrooke, et son coéquipier Xavier Lemaitre (18 min 48 s), qui ont respectivement remporté l'argent et le bronze.
Au classement par équipe, Laval a remporté le titre avec 34 points, suivi de Sherbrooke (61), Queen's (88), McGill (91), UQTR (148), Ottawa (184), Montréal (189), UQAC (251), UQAM (259), ÉTS (316) et RMC (378).
La saison du RSEQ se poursuit le 11 octobre avec le Rouge et Or Invitational, une course de huit kilomètres sur les plaines historiques d'Abraham à Québec.
