DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – The Collège de Drummondville Voltigeurs rallied to defeat McGill 9-4 in the opening game of a men's baseball doubleheader, Sunday, at Stade Jacques-Desautels.
McGill, which dropped to 0-7, jumped ahead with a three-run fourth inning, but the Voltigeurs answered with eight runs over the next two frames to seize control. Drummondville (3-1) outhit the visitors 13-5 and took advantage of three McGill errors. The Voltigeurs stranded 11 runners, while McGill left 17 on base.
The Redbirds opened the scoring in the fourth when catcher
Nathaniel Steffler singled and came home on a groundout by
Radbod Yazdanfar. First baseman
Eli Brisman also singled and scored on an error, while second baseman
Jackson Cohen walked and later crossed the plate on a misplay by the Voltigeurs shortstop. In the seventh,
Alex Strapko reached on a bunt single, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on
Sam Walsh's groundout for McGill's final run

Strapko led the offence with two hits and a stolen base. Steffler, Brisman and designated hitter
Xavier Felx had the other McGill hits.
The Voltigeurs responded with a run in the fourth, then surged ahead with three in the fifth. First baseman
Marek Devost doubled home one run and later added a pair of singles, finishing with two hits and two RBIs. Drummondville broke the game open with a five-run sixth, featuring run-scoring hits from Devost,
Xavier Jacques,
Guillaume Doucet,
Liam Charron and
Xavier Bellande.
McGill starter
Marcus Dela Cruz tossed 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts before giving way to
Robert Passmore-Waugh, who allowed one unearned run over 1.2 innings.
Donovan Worrall (0-1) was saddled with the loss, surrendering eight runs — five earned — on 10 hits in two innings of relief

For Drummondville, Guillaume Aupin started and gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits over 3.1 innings. Jean-David Devost threw 2.2 shutout innings of relief, before Etienne Bélanger (1-0) finished the seventh to collect the win
The Redbirds will look to rebound in the second half of the twinbill, scheduled for a 2 p.m. start Sunday at Stade Jacques-Desautels.

McGill, qui a chuté à 0-7, a pris les devants avec trois points en quatrième manche, mais les Voltigeurs ont répliqué avec huit points au cours des deux manches suivantes pour prendre le contrôle du match. Drummondville (3-1) a dominé les visiteurs 13-5 au chapitre des coups sûrs et a profité de trois erreurs de McGill. Les Voltigeurs ont laissé 11 coureurs sur les buts, tandis que McGill en a laissé 17.
Les Redbirds ont ouvert la marque en quatrième manche lorsque le receveur Nathaniel Steffler a frappé un simple et a marqué sur un roulant de Radbod Yazdanfar. Donovan Worrall (0-1) a été crédité de la défaite, concédant huit points (dont cinq mérités) sur 10 coups sûrs en deux manches de relève.
