MONTREAL — Rookie guard Sean Duff scored 19 points and veteran forward Saransh Padhy posted a double-double, but a late McGill rally fell just short in a 68–62 loss to Concordia in RSEQ men's university basketball thriller, Thursday night on the John Dore Court.

Concordia led 14–10 after the first quarter, then outscored McGill 21–14 in the second to take a 35–24 halftime advantage. The Stingers maintained control through the third, leading 49–38, before the Redbirds mounted a spirited fourth-quarter comeback. Down by 18 points at one point, McGill closed the gap to 62–59 after Duff drained a three-pointer with 1:38 left, but Concordia finished on a 6–3 run to seal the win.

Duff paced McGill on 6-for-13 shooting, with three treys before fouling out with five seconds remaining.Padhy contributed 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Alexandre Fortin chipped in 10 points and six boards. The Redbirds shot 46 per cent from the floor but went 12-for-20 from the free-throw line (60 per cent).

Yohan Léger led all scorers with 21 points for Concordia, sinking five from beyond the arc, while Victor Bonsu netted 18 with four triples and four free throws. Karam Sahly added seven points and 10 rebounds. The Stingers hit 12 three-pointers and outscored McGill 23–15 off turnovers despite shooting just 34.3 per cent from the field and 8-for-15 from the line (53.3 per cent).

The win improved Concordia's all-time series lead over McGill to 129–66 since the rivalry began in 1975. McGill (1-6) will host second-place Laval (5–2) on Saturday at 6 p.m., while Concordia (4-3)  welcomes UQAM (3–2) on Nov. 27.

McGill réduit l'écart à trois points dans les dernières minutes avant que Concordia ne s'impose à domicile

MONTRÉAL — Le garde recrue Sean Duff a marqué 19 points et l'ailier vétéran Saransh Padhy a réalisé un double-double, mais la remontée tardive de McGill n'a pas suffi pour éviter une défaite 68-62 contre Concordia dans un match palpitant de basket-ball universitaire masculin de la RSEQ, jeudi soir au John Dore Court.

Concordia menait 14-10 après le premier quart-temps, puis a dominé McGill 21-14 au deuxième quart-temps pour prendre l'avantage 35-24 à la mi-temps. Les Stingers ont conservé le contrôle tout au long du troisième quart-temps, menant 49-38, avant que les Redbirds ne remontent au score avec brio au quatrième quart-temps. McGill a comblé un déficit de 18 points et réduit l'écart à 62-59 après un tir à trois points de Duff à 1 min 38 s de la fin, mais Concordia a terminé sur un 6-3 pour sceller la victoire.

Duff a mené McGill avec 6 tirs sur 13, dont trois à trois points, avant de commettre une faute à cinq secondes de la fin. Padhy a contribué avec 10 points et 12 rebonds, le meilleur total du match, tandis qu'Alexandre Fortin a ajouté 10 points et six rebonds. Les Redbirds ont tiré à 46 % depuis le terrain, mais ont réussi 12 tirs sur 20 depuis la ligne des lancers francs (60 %).

Karam Sahly a ajouté sept points et 10 rebonds. Les Stingers ont réussi 12 tirs à trois points et ont dominé McGill 23-15 sur les revirements, malgré un pourcentage de réussite de seulement 34,3 % au tir et 8 sur 15 aux lancers francs (53,3 %).

Cette victoire porte à 129-66 l'avance de Concordia sur McGill depuis le début de la rivalité en 1975. McGill (1-6) accueillera Laval (5-2), deuxième au classement, samedi à 18 h, tandis que Concordia (4-3) recevra l'UQAM (3-2) le 27 novembre.
