MONTREAL — McGill defeated the ETS Piranhas 3-1 in RSEQ women's volleyball action Sunday, taking the match by set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-23.
The result halted a four-game losing streak for the young Martlets, who improved to 2-5. ETS, a second-year program in the Quebec league, dropped to 0-6.
Outside hitter Isabel Ubeda paced the McGill attack with 15 kills, while Sandrine Méthot added 10 and Romane Daigle chipped in eight. Setter Selima Guidara directed the offence with 38 assists and contributed three service aces, while libero Emma Waskiewicz anchored the backcourt with 19 digs.
McGill hit .164 as a team, compared to .113 for ETS, and finished with six blocks to the Piranhas' four. ETS was led by Kassandra Blandon-Chavarriaga, who tallied 14 kills and 16.5 points, while Lisa Dumont added 11 kills in the loss.
McGill returns home Friday, Nov. 7, to host UQAM at 6 p.m. ETS visits UQAC on Nov. 14.

MONTRÉAL — McGill a battu les Piranhas de l'ETS 3-1 dimanche dans le cadre du championnat féminin de volleyball RSEQ, remportant le match par des scores de 25-20, 23-25, 25-16 et 25-23.
Ce résultat a mis fin à une série de quatre défaites consécutives pour les jeunes Martlets, qui ont amélioré leur fiche à 2-5. ETS, un programme de deuxième année dans la ligue québécoise, a chuté à 0-6.
L'attaquante Isabel Ubeda a mené l'attaque de McGill avec 15 attaques décisives, tandis que Sandrine Méthot en a ajouté 10 et Romane Daigle 8. La passeuse Selima Guidara a dirigé l'attaque avec 38 passes décisives et a contribué à trois services gagnants, tandis que la libéro Emma Waskiewicz a ancré l'arrière-cour avec 19 récupérations.
McGill a frappé .164 en tant qu'équipe, contre .113 pour ETS, et a terminé avec six blocs contre quatre pour les Piranhas. ETS était menée par Kassandra Blandon-Chavarriaga, qui a totalisé 14 attaques décisives et 16,5 points, tandis que Lisa Dumont a ajouté 11 attaques décisives dans la défaite.
