MONTREAL — Lily Rose Chatila scored a game-high 17 points to lead the McGill Martlets to a 76-58 victory over the visiting Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in women's preseason basketball action Saturday at Love Competition Hall.

McGill (2-0) set the tone early, leading 27-9 after the opening quarter and 49-16 at halftime. The Martlets carried a 65-39 edge into the fourth before Ontario Tech outscored them 19-11 down the stretch to trim the final margin.

Second-year forward Emilia Diaz-Ruiz posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Seyna Diggs added eight points and six boards. Daniella Mbengo and Emie Boucard each contributed nine points, and Emma-Jane Scotten tallied eight points with four assists.

McGill shot 40 per cent from the floor (30-for-75), including 29.2 per cent from three-point range (7-for-24), and hit 75 per cent of its free throws (9-for-12). The Martlets forced 23 turnovers, converting those into 26 points, and held a 44-32 advantage in rebounds.

Ontario Tech (1-3) was led by Kaleah Gosse with 10 points and Adra Barnet with eight. The Ridgebacks shot 37.7 per cent overall, 47.4 per cent from beyond the arc (9-for-19) and 47.4 per cent from the line (9-for-19).

Ontario Tech concludes its Montreal tour with a game at UQAM on Sunday (Oct. 5) at 3 p.m. McGill continues preseason play next week at the Darcel Wright Memorial Classicin Toronto, opening against host Toronto Metropolitan University on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
