PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Freshman
Zach Bye of Greenwich, Conn., scored five goals and assisted on two others as McGill completed an undefeated regular season with a hard-fought 11-7 victory over the Trent Excalibur in men's lacrosse, Saturday.
The result locked McGill into the top spot with a perfect 10-0 record, its first unblemished season since going 10-0 in 2019. The Redbirds finished four points ahead of second-place Trent (8-2) and that means McGill will host sixth-place Bishop's (1-8) or Ottawa (2-8) in a sudden-death playoff game on Oct. 27 in a 5 p.m. start at Percival Molson Stadium. The winner will qualify for the Baggataway Cup Nationals championship, a six-team tournament slated to be held in St. Catharines, Ont., Nov. 1-3.
