Sophie Guilmette returned from missing two games with an undisclosed injury and made two saves to register her fourth shutout of the season, improving her record to 6-1-2. In her three seasons since transferring from Vanderbilt University, the native Montrealer has racked up an 18-9-10 record with 16 shutouts.
"It was a good win for the team," said McGill head coach
Jose-Luis Valdes. The first 20 minutes was very challenging as Concordia kept coming at us attack after attack until 'Allie' scored from a good distance. That relieved a bit of pressure and we started finding solutions to get into the attacking zone with consistency and better structure. We started building some rhythm and scoring opportunities."
Hughes-Goyette, a master's student from Squamish, B.C., was named as McGill's player of the game. The 5-foot-9 striker from Squamish, B.C., converted a pass from Renaud in the 26th minute of play. Then Renaud, the high-scoring midfielder from St. Hubert, Que., added an unassisted insurance marker in the 40th minute to give the Martlets a two-goal cushion into halftime.
Stephanie Hill, a fifth-year defender from Montreal, rounded out the scoring in the 89th minute.
