Andy Bai and
Nicolas Germain, both members of the McGill University men's badminton team, were among the laureates as the RSEQ major awards and all-stars were announced by the Quebec conference.
Bai, a 20-year-old physiology freshman from Ottawa, was named among the league's second-team all-stars. Germain, 20, is physical and health education freshman from Laval, Que., who was voted rookie of the year in the seven-team conference.
Bai posted a 10-5 record overall, winning 21 of 24 sets in RSEQ play. In singles, he was 10-4 with a 21-11 record in sets. In mixed doubles, he was 0-1. At the 2023 YONEX Canadian University College Championships, Bail was 3-1 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.
Germain had a 12-9 record over the RSEQ season, winning 27 of 48 sets. In singles, he was 7-4, winning 17 of 26 sets. In doubles, he was 3-3, winning six of 13 sets. In mixed doubles, he was 2-2, winning four of nine sets. At the 2023 YONEX Canadian University College Championships, Germain was 4-2 overall, posting identical 2-1 records in both singles and doubles.
