OTTAWA -- Goaltender
Marie-Eve Cote registered a 29-save shutout as the Carleton Ravens skated to a 2-0 victory over visiting McGill at the Ice House, Friday.
It was only Carleton's eighth career win against the Martlets who dropped to 106-8-1 lifetime against the Ravens.
After a scoreless opening period, forward
Aoife Mahaffy scored what proved to be the winning goal at the 58-second mark of the middle session. Defenceman
Hayden Semiuck added an insurance marker eight minutes later and forward
Lanie Guimond tallied an empty-netter at 17:14 of the final stanza.
McGill goaltender
Juliette Roy, a physio;ogy freshman from Candiac, Que., was called on to make her first career start and posted 29 saves in a losing cause.
Carleton had a 32-29 edge in shots and went 0-for-2 on the power-play, while McGill was 0-for-6.
With six games remaining on the schedule, the fifth-place Ravens improved to 7-9-3, while the Martlets dropped to 2-16-1. The next game for both teams is on Sunday (Jan. 29), with McGill at Montreal (11-4-4) and Carleton at Concordia (15-3-1).
