MONTREAL –
Sophie Guilmette and
Ashley Pitcher each earned shutouts as Bishop's and McGill battled to a 0-0 draw in women's university soccer at Molson Stadium, Sunday.
The result was a disappointing one for the Martlets, who
extended their lifetime undefeated record against Bishop's to 57-0-4 since the Gaiters joined the league in 1992. McGill has now registered back-to-back scoreless stalemates for the first time since the 20019 season.
Guilmette, a first-year transfer from Vanderbilt University, needed only two saves to earn her third career clean sheet in eight starts with the Martlets. The 5-foot-6 native of Montreal now owns a 3-3-1 record with a 1.38 goals-against average.
McGill had an 8-4 advantage in shots attempted but was unable to beat Pitcher, who was making her first career start between the pipes for the Gaiters, also registered a two-save whitewash.
Only 14 fouls called in the game, 10 of them to BU, who drew the only card, a yellow issued to Grance Kunz in the final minute of play.
With five games remaining before playoffs, McGill sits fourth in the eight-team RSEQ conference with a 4-3-2 record and sit one point behind third-place UQAM (4-2-3).
The Gaiters, meanwhile, are on the outside looking in with a 1-4-4 record and seven points in arrears of the last playoff spot, currently held down by McGill.
