OTTAWA --
Auguste Guern hit a clutch RBI double and came around to score on a passed ball as McGill, capped a magical six-run rally in their final at bats for an 8-7 road victory to open a doubleheader against the Ottawa Gees at Lytle Park, Sunday.
McGill had opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth inning but the Gee-Gees answered back with two in the bottom of the inning, followed by one in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final inning. The Redbirds seemed to have more than enough with six runs in the top of the seventh but Ottawa replied with four in their half of the inning before the fire was put out.
Guern, a political science senior from France, batted clean-up, going 1-for-4 at the plate, scoring twice and knocking in another. Rookie
Jonas Press of Toronto, was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and crossed the plate once.

Donovan Worrall was credited with the victory retiring both batters faced on five pitches in relief of starter
Arthur "Cinch" Smith, who had won his first four starts. Smith allowed three runs on four hits in 5.1 innings of work. he struck out four, walked three and had two hit batsmen.
The Redbirds only managed five hits in the contest, each by different players.
Ansh Gosh paced the Gee-Gees with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate and a pair of RBIs.
The victory improved McGill's record to 14-5 overall, heading into Game 2 of the twin-bill, slated for a 3 p.m. start on Sunday.
