HANOVER, NH - The NCAA's Dartmouth College Big Green scored once in each period en route to a 3-0 shutout over visiting McGill in a men's hockey preseason contest at Thompson Arena, Wednesday.
It marked McGill's first meeting with Dartmouth in two decades since a 2-1 setback on Oct. 20, 2012 and dropped their lifetime record to 16-13-0 overall against the Big Green, since the series began more than a century ago, in 1909.
Cam MacDonald, Mark Gallant, and Sean Chisholm each scored, respectively, for the Big Green.
The game featured 21 penalties for 60 minutes, with the home side going 1-for-8 on the power-play, while McGill was 0-for-6.
Dartmouth, which had a 32-25 edge in shots, utilized three different goaltenders as Cooper Black, Troy Burkhart and Mikey Roberts combined for the shutout.
Black earned the start and was credited with the win, making a dozen saves before giving way to Burkhart with 3:48 remaining in the middle stanza. Burkhart, who stopped the lone shot faced, was replaced for the final period by Roberts, who kicked aside 12 shots.

Sophomore Alexis Shank made 29 saves in a losing cause for the Redbirds.

Dartmouth (1-0) plays one final tune-up on Oct. 21 when they host Guelph before opening the season with an ECAC Hockey matchup at Harvard, Oct. 28.
McGill, which posted a 2-3-0 record in preseason play, will now focus on their OUQ regular season schedule. The Redbirds will host RMC in the league opener on oct. 14 before a home-and-home series against cross-town rival Concordia. McGill plays at the Ed Meagher Arena on Thursday, Oct. 16 in a 3 p.m. start, before hosting the Stingers duirng McGill Homecoming Week, on Thursday, Oct. 20.
