MONTREAL – Sophomore
Matthew Beaudet of Montreal, finished sixth to lead the McGill Redbirds to second place overall in the men's division of the McGill Invitational meet on the slopes of Mt. Royal, Saturday.

Beaudet, a 21-year-old electrical engineering major, completed the six-kilometre loop in 18 minutes, 11 seconds. He was 18 seconds behind
Jean-Simon Desgagnes, who paced the Rouge et Or atop the podium, clocking a time of 18 minutes flat. Laval teammates
Thomas Fafard and
Felix Lapointe-Pilote rounded out the respective podium spots, finishing in 18:03 and 18:04.
Other scorers for the McGill men included
Jack Stanley, a first year doctorate student, who was 11th in 18:19, followed by junior
Noah El Rimawi-Fine (13th, 18:26) of Keene Valley, N.Y., freshman
Tom Secheyron (18th; 18:48) of Switzerland and
Thomas Csisztu (19th; 18:51) a fifth-year senior from Pembroke, Ont.
Laval swept the top four spots to finish first on 11 competing universities in the men's team scoring with 18 points. McGill was next with 67 points, followed by Montreal (96), Ottawa (143), UQAM (156) Sherbrooke (157), UQTR (216), ETS (229), UQAC (238), Concordia (260) and Carleton (303).
Next on the schedule is the Capital Cross-Country Challenge, an 8k men's race in Ottawa on Oct. 2.
