MONTREAL -- Matthew Forchuk scored a pair of goals as the Carleton Ravens defeated McGill 5-3 in Game 2 of an OUA East men's hockey semifinal at McConnell Arena, Saturday.
The result evens the series at 1-1 and forces a rubber match on Sunday back in the nation's capital, where McGill has won four of their last five outings against the Ravens. Carleton improved their head-to-head record to 27-36-1 in 64 lifetime meetings since first playing the Redmen in 1968.
McGill, which outshot the Ravens 30-29, fell behind by an uncharacteristic 4-0 margin by the midway mark of a wild first period but battled back to make it 4-3 before intermission.Forchuck netted a power-play goal at 5:50, then added another at 11:57. Defenceman Evan de Haan and forward Brett Gustavsen connected at 6:07 and 9:38, respectively.

McGill profited by striking for three consecutive power-play markers.
"I don't think we were prepared for the storm they brought," said defenceman Nikolas Brouillard of St. Hilaire, Que., who potted a power-play goal at 14:53 to initiation a comeback. "But we answered well, we played really well after 10 minutes The game could have gone either way."
Montrealer Antoine Dufort-Plante then connected at 17:49 followed by Keanu Yamamoto of Spokane, Was., at 19:03, narrowing the gap to 4-3. The Redmen looked certain for more as they entered the intermission with a 5-on-3 advantage but suddenly, as hot as their special teams unit had been, it went stone cold and the middle period was scoreless.
Carleton forward Jared Steege all but put the game out of reach at 12:40 of the final stanza.
McGill went 3-for-7 on the power play, while the Ravens went 1-for-3.
Carleton netminder Francois Brassard made 27 saves for the win, while Redmen goaltender Louis-Philip Guindon conceded five goals on 29 shots for the loss.
Sunday's deciding game will be played at 7 p.m. in the CU Ice House.
