Lexie Laing of Marblehead, Mass., scored twice as Harvard University defeated McGill 4-0 in women's pre-season hockey at the Bright-Landry Center, Friday.
 
The Crimson improved their lifetime record to 12-1-1 against McGill, having suffered their only loss on Oct. 14, 2016 with a 3-0 shutout.
 
The Martlets outshot Harvard 34-31, including a 13-8 advantage in the third.
Kat Hughes opened scoring six minutes from puck drop to give Harvard an early lead. The Crimson dominated the second as 
Dominique Petrie scored at 1:17, followed by a pair from Laing at 6:26 and 11:17, to give the hosts a 4-0 advantage after 40 minutes. Laing, a 5-foot-6 centre, led registered a game-high seven shots on net and went 16 for 25 in the face-off circle.
 
Jade Downie-Landry a 5-foot-8 sophomore from St. Jean, Que., led the Martlets with five shots on net and was credited 10 wins on 17 faceoffs taken. Teammates 
Cassidy Bell from Baldonnel, B.C., and 
Lea Dumais from Beaconsfield, Que., each had four shots on goal.
 
McGill netminder 
Tricia Deguire, a junior from Sherbrooke, Que., made 27 saves in a losing effort.
 
Harvard went one for four on the power play and shut the door on all seven of McGill's opportunities.
 
McGill continues their annual Ivy League tour of NCAA opponents with games at Yale on Saturday (2 p.m.) and Dartmouth on Sunday (1 p.m.).
