Dohm delivers doomsday hit as Redmen ruffle Ravens, clinch fourth consecutive pennant


COTE ST. LUC, Que. -- Sophomore infielder Emerson Dohm of West Vancouver, B.C., singled on a 2-2 count to score Jonathan Duforest with the winning run in the sixth inning as McGill came from behind to defeat visiting Carleton 6-5 on Saturday at Gary Carter Field.

The result completed a doubleheader sweep for the undefeated Redmen (13-0), clinched first place for the fourth consecutive year in the CCBA Northern Conference and extend the team's win streak to 23 regular season contests in CCBA play, dating back to last fall.

Duforest also scored the winning run in the fifth in of the first game, where McGill eked out a 2-1 victory.

Carleton jumped into a 2-0 first-inning lead but the Redmen scored one in fourth, three in the fifth and two more in sixth

Rocky Hroch tossed a complete game three-hitter for the win, allowing five runs (four earned), while striking out seven and walking four in seven innings. he threw 109 pitches, 65 for strikes. Ryan Burnside took the loss for Carleton. He also pitched a complete game, surrendering six runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out five, walking one and hitting two batters.

Benji Kaiserman and Sasha Lagarde each had multiple hits for McGill (13-0), which closes out the regular season with a doubleheader against Ottawa on Sunday (Oct. 1) beginning at 12 noon and a make-up game against Concordia on Monday (Oct. 2) at 7:30 p.m.
