Dohm delivers decisively as baseball Redmen run streak to 17


OTTAWA -- Emerson Dohm banged out four hits as the undefeated McGill men's baseball team cruised to a 13-3 over Ottawa on Sunday. The Redmen, now 5-0, improved their win streak to 17 games in CCBA regular season play dating back to last year.

The Redmen collected 13 hits and stole six bases. They never trailed, leading 3-2 after the first inning, then added four in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth

Dohm, a 5-foot-11, 177-pound first-baseman from West Vancouver, B.C., went 4-for-4, scored twice and knocked in two others. The 21-year-old history junior singled in the first and second innings, then doubled in the fourth and singled again in the fifth..

Starting pitcher Rocky Hroch and reliever Sam Greene limited the Gee-Gees to just two hits. Hroch (1-0) gave up three runs, one of them earned, on one hit in four innings of work. He struck out six, walked four and hit four batters. Green allowed no runs on one hit, and struck out two,

Third baseman Jared Kersh also collected multiple hits for McGill, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored.  Catcher Camden Lawhead, a junior from Lakewood, Col., led McGill with three runs batted in, going 1-for-3 at the plate..

Game 2 of the doubleheader is slated for today (Sept. 17) at 3 p.m.
