Phil Saad of Lorraine, Que., struck out 14 and tossed a complete game five-hitter as visiting McGill mastered Concordia 3-1 to remain undefeated in Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association play at Gary Carter Field, Wednesday.

Jake Guggenheimer and
Jack Pantalena each drove in one run to lead the Redmen, who improved to 2-0 in the CCBA Northern Division standings, while Concordia dropped to 0-4.
Saad, a domineering 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-hander, walked two and allowed one run to collect the victory in his season debut. The 21-year-old economics sophomore threw 109 pitches, 76 for strikes and induced five groundouts with two fly-ball outs.

Andre Lagarde was the only multi-hit player on either side, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
Concordia took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Miles Arecchi-Schuh smacked an RBI-doubled on the first pitch he saw. McGill rallied with with three runs in the fourth inning. Kersh singled off Stingers starter
Jackson Morgan, driving in one run, then Pantalena stroked an RBI single and Guggenheimer drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the final run.
Morgan was saddled with the loss. He allowed three runs, all earned, on seven hits in 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out one.
Justin Benoit pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing one hit with no walks and one strikeout.
