Sasha Lagarde and
Andre Lagarde -- as McGill walloped Ottawa 14-3 in the first game of a doubleheader at Gary Carter Field, Sunday. The "mercy rule" was invoked in the fifth inning.
McGill, the three-time defending national champs, banged out 14 hits, exploding for seven runs in the second inning and then putting up another seven-spot in the fourth. The result improved to 14-0 on the season and extending their win streak to 24 games in Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association play dating back to last year.
Sasha, a six-foot, 220-pound sophomore who was serving as the designated hitter, went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles from the leadoff spot. he was hit by pitch, scored twice and had two runs batted in.
Andre, his twin sibling who plays centrefield and measures 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, was batting from the cleanup spot. He also produced a pair of hits in three at bats, scored twice and knocked in two RBIs.
Starting pitcher
Thomas Mienkowski collected the victory with a complete game performance. He scattered four hits over five innings, surrendering three runs (two earned), while striking out three and walking three. Mienkowski's pitch count was 89, including 50 strikes.

McGill (14-0) will look for a sweep over Ottawa (2-13) in the second game of today's twin-bill.
