OTTAWA -- Rhys Burnell of Abbotsford, B.C., scored four goals as the visiting McGill Redmen clobbered Carleton 17-7 in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association play, Wednesday.

It matched the exact same score in McGill's home-field victory over the Ravens last week and more importantly, extended the team's win streak to 29 consecutive regular season games, dating back to an 11-10 loss at Bishop's on Sept. 27, 2012.

Also netting a hat-trick was Connor Goodwin, a senior from New Westminster, B.C., who added three assists, and Augustus Bolton, a sophomore from Darien, Conn.

The teams were tied at 3-3 after the opening quarter, but McGill awoke in the second stanza, took an 8-4 lead into halftime and extended that to a 12-5 advantage after three quarters. The game featured 25 penalties, including 13 to Carleton.

"A nice win for us as it is never easy to play a mid-week game on the road,"said McGill head coach Tim Murdoch. "It was a see-saw battle for the first quarter because we had to overcome "bus legs". Our bus arrived late and we were only able to have a 20-minute warm-up. We were ready to play in the second quarter, however, and pushed ahead aggressively throughout the game. We had a lot of good distribution in our scoring and our defensive unit played well. I was also happy that we were able to get our entire dress roster into the game as we substituted liberally in the fourth quarter with our younger players.

Spencer Bromley of Surrey, B.C., added a pair of markers, with singles from Alexander Linton, Anders Bjella, rookie Maxime Murdoch, Jake Gutman and Emile Sassone-Lawless (who also added four assists).

McGill had a 40-28 edge in shots as third-year Redmen goaltender William Waesche of Greenwich, Conn., made 21 saves for the the win. For the Ravens, starter Simon Bellamy was beaten 16 times and took the loss. He also had to serve a one-minute penalty and was replaced during that time by back-up Adam Bridle, who allowed one goal.

Carleton (1-2) will host Bishop's (2-0) on Sept. 19, while McGill (3-0) continues their three-game road trip to Ontario this weekend. The Redmen will confront Queen's (2-0) -- in a battle of undefeated teams -- at Kingston on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Trent University (0-2) in Peterborough, Sunday (2 p.m.)

LAX RAP: The league office made a stunning announcement on Monday that Concordia has decided to withdraw their team for the remainder of the season, citing that with only a 13-man roster, the heath and safety of the players were a concern for team management. The winless Stingers, who were outscored by a combined 40-1 total over their first two games, will forfeit the remainder of their games by 1-0 scores. "It's an unfortunate situation for the league and Concordia program," said CUFLA commissioner David Fenicky in a press release. "We believe the decision is in the best interest for long-term success at CU."
