OTTAWA --
Tayler Sipperly of Charlotte, S.C.,scored six goals and
Spencer Bromley of Surrey, B.C.,added four more as the McGill University men's lacrosse team opened their regular season with a lopsided 15-4 road victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Saturday.
The Redmen led 3-1 after the opening quarter, 7-2 at the half and 9-4 after three, before overwhelming Ottawa 6-0 in the final frame.
Five McGill snipers tallied one marker apiece to round out the scoring. They included co-captains
Connor Goodwin and Alex Rohrbach, along with
Anders Bjella,
Rhys Burnell and Cal Callahan.
Alexis Gagnon-Dolbec netted ahat-trick in a losing cause for Ottawa, which also had a marker from Frederick Hartley.
McGill starting goaltender Jamie Spagnuolo played the first half and conceded a pair of goals to collect the victory. He was releived by teammate
William Waesche was also beaten twice in his 40 minutes between the pipes.
Ottawa netminder Pierre Richardson gave up all 15 goals and took the loss.
McGill (1-0) plays at Carleton (1-0) on Sunday at Ravens Road Field (3 p.m.) while Ottawa (0-1) will play host to Bishop's (0-0).
