PETERBOROUGH, Ont. -- Alexander Linton, a freshman midfielder from Ridgewood, N.J., scored seven points, including a hat-trick, as the McGill men's lacrosse team rallied from an early 6-0 deficit and outlasted the Trent University Excalibur 15-12 in double overtime at Justin Chiu Stadium.

The result extended McGill's perfect record to 6-0 atop the CUFLA East Division standings.

McGill, which was missing five starters due to mid-term exams and injuries, trailed 4-0 after the opening period, 7-3 at halftime and 9-6 after three quarters before outscoring Trent 5-2 in the fourth to force overtime. Freshman Jackson Hall -- the son of McGill sociology professor John Hall -- who made the team as a walk-on from Burlington, Vt., tallied his first two career goals, including the tying marker with just seven seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 11-11.

McGill won both overtimes -- composed of a pair of four-minute periods -- 2-0 and 2-1, respectively.

Spencer Bromley of Surrey, B.C., who was credited with the game-winner, added two goals, as did teammates Rufus Frost of Park City, Utah, and Rhys Burnell of Abbotsford, B.C. Singles went to Alexander Rohrbach of Princeton Junction, B.C., Christopher Medary of Orlando, Fla., Dan Williams of Ancaster, Ont., and Emile Sassone- Lawless of Ithaca, N.Y.

Sophomore goalkeeper William Waesche, who came on at halftime in relief of senior James Spagnuolo, registered the victory. he allowed just five goals on 11 shots over the final 48 minutes. Spagnuolo started and gave up seven goals on 13 shots in the first half.

The McGill squad (6-0) plays at Bishop's (4-1) in Lennoxvile, Que., on Sept. 25 before hosting the team's Homecoming Weekend with an alumni game on Sept. 27 at Molson Stadium (2 pm).
