Dirty dozen dents twine as lacrosse Redmen rout Ravens


OTTAWA -- A balanced attack, which featured 12 different scorers, helped McGill cruise past Carleton 16-3 in men's university lacrosse at Keith Harris Stadium in the nation's capital, Saturday.

McGill, which improved to 7-0, are one victory away from clinching first place atop the CUFLA East Division standings for the second straight season.

Tayler Sipperly, a sophmore from Charlotte, SC., netted two goals as did three other Redmen including Alexander Rohrbach of West Windsor, N.J., Connor Goodwin of New Westminster, B.C., and Matthew Tse of Toronto. 

McGill led 4-0 after the opening quarter and were ahead 8-0 into the second when Adam D'Agostino broke the shutout bid by Redmen netminder Riley McGillis. McGill led 10-2 after the third quarter and exploded for six goals in the final stanza.

Scoring singles for the Redmen was Kevin Donovan of Bethany, Conn., along with Nolan Prinzen of Summit, N.J., Brandon McLean of Victoria, BC., Rufus Frost of Park City, Utah, Daniel Maffezzoli of New York City, Anders Bjella of Milwaukee, Wisc., Spencer Bromley of Surrey, B.C., and Emile Sassone- Lawless of Ithaca, N.Y. 

McGillis was credited with the win and surrendered only one goal before being replaced at halftime. Reserve 'keepers William Waesche and James Spanguolo split the final 40 minutes with both letting in one goal.  

The Redmen will host Queen's on Sunday at Forbes Field, located behind Molson Stadium. The opening faceoff is slated for 5 p.m.
