Box Score
MONTREAL – Roxane Hasseni of LaSalle, Que., racked up 18 kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks as visiting Sherbrooke outlasted McGill 3-1 in a hard-fought women's volleyball contest at Love Competition Hall, Friday

The second-place Vert & Or, which improved to 12-3, won by set scores of  25-18, 28-26, 19-25 and 26-24 in a marathon that lasted an hour and 57 minutes.

Sherbrooke had a 46-39 edge in kills and an 11-3 margin in aces.

The result put a serious roadblock in front of McGill's playoff hopes as the Martlets sit last in the four-team RSEQ conference with a 7-8 record. McGill sits three wins behind the third-place Montreal Carabins (10-5) and only five matches remaining on their schedule.

Ashley Norfleet, an education freshman from Brossard, Que., was the leading scorer for the Martlets with 10.5 points. The 5-foot-11 power-hitter registered eight kills, three kills and five assisted blocks.

Teammate Genevieve Plante, a junior from Montreal, added nine kills, 14 digs, a pair of assisted blocks and a 2.14 passing ratio. Marie-Christine Lapointe of St. Jean sur Richelieu, Que., contributed a game-high 28 digs, eight kills, one ace and two assisted blocks. Rookie Catherine Amyot of Ottawa had 13 digs, six kills and one ace.  Alexandra Kobza, a sophomore from Vancouver, B.C., had 15 digs and led the team in passing with a 2.33 passing ratio out of 3.

McGill, which now faces a must-win situation in all five of their remaining games, will play the next three on the road, beginning at Laval on Saturday at 6 p.m. The match is scheduled to be webcast live at: http://rougeetor.tv/accesro/
