MONTREAL -- Freshman Alex Rohrbach of Princeton Junction, N.J., exploded for five goals and senior co-captain Jishan Sharples of Vancouver, B.C., added four others as McGill trounced Toronto 15-6 in men's lacrosse action at a rain-soaked Molson Stadium, Saturday.

The Redmen, who extended their win streak to seven, sit atop the CUFLA East Division standings with a 7-0 record, eight points ahead of second-place Toronto (3-2).

Rohrbach's performance moved him into sole possession of the conference scoring race with 19 goals and 25 points in six games.

McGill got of to a sluggish start in soggy field conditions and allowed Toronto to take a 3-2 goal lead after the first quarter.  The Redmen, however, roared back to lead 6-3 at halftime and extended that to 9-3 after three quarters.

Maryland native J.J. Miller, who set up three Redmen goals, thoroughly dominated on faceoffs, winning 21 out of 25 for a stellar 84 per cent success rate.

Co-captain Mike Ting of Boston, Mass., scored a goal and added two helpers, while Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont., tallied twice and set up another, as did Leland de Langley of Orangeville, Ont.  Rounding out the McGill scoring was Nolan Prinzen of Summit, N.J.

Goaltender Ward Waesche, an NCAA transfer from Greenwich, Conn., had an excellent night, stuffing two point-blank Blues' shots in the second quarter in a key defensive stand. Waesche currently has the second lowest goals-against average in CUFLA East (7.71 GAA), trailing only teammate Riley McGillis (7.57 GAA).

Toronto's scoring was led by two goals from Tyler Weber, in addition to singles from Michael Buwalda and Jordan Robertson (1G, 1A). Blues goalie Andrew Clair was beaten 15 times in his 80 minutes of work.

"We showed a lot of heart to come back strong in the second half after playing a sloppy first half," offered Tim Murdoch, head coach of the Redmen.  "We have a lot of depth and a mature group of veterans who led the way and took control of the game in the third quarter."

McGill, the only remaining undefeated team in the league, now prepare for a crucial rematch against Bishop's (2-1) at home on Thursday night (8:30 p.m.) at Molson Stadium to kick off Canadian Thanksgiving break.   A victory will clinch first place in the East Division and earn the Redmen an early berth to the CUFLA Final Four in London, Ont., Nov. 5-6, 2011.
