TORONTO - Noah Miller of Burlington, Vt.,
potted four goals as McGill thrashed the winless Toronto Varsity
Blues 11-6 in men's university lacrosse at U of T's Back Campus
field, Sunday.
McGill led 3-2 after the first quarter, 7-3 at halftime and 8-3
after three stanzas. The Redmen improved their record to 3-1
in the CUFLA East Division. Toronto drops to 0-4 and sits sixth in
CUFLA East.
Other Redmen marksmen included Ryan Besse of
Aurora, Ont., who potted two goals and set up another.
Jishan Sharples of Vancouver, B.C., and
Greg Henry of Halton Hills, Ont., each scored
twice. Rounding out the scoring for McGill was freshman
Ian Pearson of Summit, N.J., who notched his first
career goal.
Andrew Kerr, Patrick Belisle
and Michael Buwalda had two goals apiece in a
losing cause for the Blues.
Senior goaltender Guy Fox of Glen Rock, N.J.,
made several spectacular saves to register the victory, while
Joncarlo Bairos took the loss for U of T.
The Redmen have six days to prepare for a visit by Queen's in a
match that will be played on Forbes Field, just north of Molson
Stadium on Sept. 25 (2pm) followed by an exhibition contest against
a Redmen Alumni squad at 4p.m.
