MONTREAL -- Noah Miller, an NCAA transfer from Burlington, Vt., scored four times as McGill trampled the Toronto Varsity Blues 12-3 in men's lacrosse on Forbes Field, Sunday.

Toronto struck first just two minutes into the game but it was short-lived and McGill rallied to lead 3-2 after the first quarter and then exploded for four goals to surge ahead 7-3 at halftime.

Miller, who previously starred with the University of Vermont, tallied twice within 50 seconds while McGill was two men down.  Both goals were set up by Vancouver native Jishan Sharples who was credited with three assists, sparking a late first-half rally. The momentum swung to the Redmen and Toronto was held scoreless for the remainder of the game.

A flag-happy officiating crew called an extremely tight game and assessed 21 penalties on the day, including 14 to the Redmen.  As a result, McGill's offence never got into a rhythm until the end of the first half.

Also scoring for McGill was freshman Ross Burst of St. Louis, Missouri, Alex Kruse of Oakville, Brendan Simeson of Oshawa, Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont., Connor Charles of Fairfield, Conn., Greg Henry of Halton Hills, Ont., Nolan Prinzen of Summit, N.J., and Ben Uveges of Phelps, NY.

Senior goalie Guy Fox of Glen Ridge, N.J., had a career day, stopping countless shots and keeping McGill in the game. He was supported by a stingy starting defence that included Sepp Stephens of Chapel Hill, N.C., Kyle Robinson of New Westminster, B.C., and Jeff O'Neill of Markham, Ont., had a very impressive day, surrendering just three goals despite enduring many shorthanded situations.

Toronto's three goals came from Connor Daly, Joncarlo Baros and Michael Buwalda.

McGill (2-0) travels to Lennoxville on Sept. 16 to face-off against conference rival Bishop's Gaiters (2-0) for sole possession atop the CUFLA East standings.
