MAJOR AWARDS:
- a two-time Team MVP (2016-17 & 2017-18)
- a four-time RSEQ all-star (three times on the first team)
- earned All-Canadian (second team) status in sophomore year
- won SILVER at 2018 U SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP
- has earned nine McGill male athlete of the year awards (N-13-16, N-21-16, J-30-17, O-16-17, O-30-17, N-27-17, F-5-18, F-26-18, O-29-18)
- has earned three RSEQ male athlete of the week awards (N-22-16, O-17-17, F-27-18)
- named once as U SPORTS male athlete of the week (N-23-16)
- named U SPORTS male athlete of the month (J-10-17)
- qualified for nationals in each of his four seasons

FIFTH YEAR (2020-21):

RSEQ CHAMPIONSHIP (@ UdeM): struck gold three times at the league championships hosted by the Université de Montréal, Registered two records and four medals, including a bronze. He won the 50 butterfly in 24.45 and was part of two winning relays, the 4x100 MR and the 4x50 freestyle relay, which set both school and RSEQ records. He swam the third leg of the record-breaking 4x50 medley relay (1:41.13)

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2017-18):
- earned RSEQ first team all-star status
- earned All-Canadian (second team) status
- qualified for U SPORTS championship

U SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP (at University of Toronto's Varsity Pool):
- won a SILVER medal at the nationals and broke three school records while leading McGill to a  seventh place finish out of 25 teams . He was the only McGill athlete to reach the podium at the three-day meet -- finishing second in the men's 50m butterfly (23.94 seconds). He also just missed the podium on four other swims, with fourth-place finishes in the 50m and 100m backstrokes, as well as the 4x100 freestyle relay and the 4x100 medley relay.  Wang set a school record in the 50m back (25.03) and led the 4x100 medley relay to two school records. He led off that race with a superb swim in the 100m back (54.66), erasing a 15-year-old standard (54.67). The relay was clocked in 3:39.00, breaking the previous school record of 3:40.23.

RSEQ CHAMPIONSHIP (at Sherbrooke):
- tied a meet high with six medals: won four golds, a pair of bronzes and was part of several relay records while leading McGill to their first men's title since 2003. His weekend haul included race victories in the 50-metre butterfly (24.09 seconds) and the 100 fly (53.84), in addition to the 4x50 and the 4x100 medley relays.  The 4x50m MR was clocked at 1:40.02, breaking the RSEQ record (1:40.36) and the McGill record (1:43.03). In addition, the school's six-year old record in the 4x100 medley relay fell in a time of 3:40.23, smashing the old mark of 3:42.06, which had been in the McGill books since 2012. Wang wrapped up his weekend by collecting a pair of bronze medals -- in the 50 and 100 backstrokes. Over the entire season, he produced 18 gold medal finishes, two silvers and a pair of bronzes in 22 race finals.

FRESHMAN YEAR (2016-17)
- earned RSEQ first team all-star status
- qualified for U SPORTS championships

RSEQ CHAMPIOSHIP (at Quebec City):
- collected two gold medals (50 and 100 butterfly), one silver and a bronze. He also broke a school record in the morning preliminaries for the 100 fly, touching the wall in 53.21 seconds to break the mark of 53.44 set by Marc-Andre Benoit in 2014.

KEMP-FRY INVITATIONAL (at Halifax)
- broke McGill and RSEQ records and reached the CIS qualifying standard while winning two gold medals in both the 50m and 100m butterfly as McGill finished first of seven teams at the meet, held at Dalhousie University in Halifax (Nov. 20, 2016). His time in the 50 fly was 23.85 seconds, breaking his own McGill record (24.40) and the RSEQ mark (23.96) set earlier in the semester. It was the fastest in the country this year, until surpassed on Dec. 11 by Laval's Pascal-Hugo Caron-Cantin, a 25-year-old sprinter who set a new RSEQ record in 23.81.

- Sam previously attended Bishop's College School (2008-13) and Cégep de Sherbrooke (2013-16)
- entered McGill at age 20 (turned 21 in Jan. 2017)
- Chose to attend McGill: "Because I believe I will have many opportunities to develop in research, because it is an English school and I feel I am ready to experience new things away from my hometown."
