Ian Baillie joined the McGill coaching staff as an assistant in 2013 was was appointed head coach in 2015. He has twice earned RSEQ men's rugby coach-of-the-year honours (2015 and 2021):
- in 2015 he led the team to a 6-0-1 first-place finish in regular season play in addition to a 2-0 record in the post season to capture the RSEQ championship
- in 2021 he led the team to a 5-1-0 first-place finish in regular season play
